Pre-payment certificate (PPC) grants

If you have checked your eligibility and you have to pay for your prescriptions, we can provide a one-off grant of £104 to cover the cost of an annual pre-payment certificate.

What are PPC grants?

These are one-off grants of £104 for people living with CF (the applicant) to cover the cost of an annual pre-payment certificate. This covers the cost of all of the applicant’s NHS prescriptions for the year.

How do I apply?

We ask applicants to read the information on this page about prescription charges and check their eligibility for free prescriptions using the NHS online tool before making an application, as well as reading the guidance on this page.

Once you have done this, please download and complete the application form.

Download the application form

The application form can be returned by email or post.

Does the application form need a supporting statement (endorsement)?

Yes. The supporting statement needs to be completed by a member of the applicant’s CF team (the endorser) and either signed by them or emailed to us from their professional email account.

If this is proving difficult please contact us.

When will I receive the grant?

PPC grants are processed weekly. If the application is successful, payment will be made to the bank account provided within 10 days of receiving a complete application.

Who should complete the application form?

The applicant, their parent/carer, partner or a member of their CF team can complete the form. Regardless of who completes the form, the ‘applicant’ is always the person living with cystic fibrosis. If the applicant is over 18, they need to be made aware that the application is being made on their behalf.

How often can I apply?

We can only provide one PPC grant for each person with CF in their lifetime, due to a limited budget.

I have a question. Can I speak to someone?

Yes. Please call our Helpline on 0300 373 1000 or email to discuss any aspect of the grants process.
